How People Make Use Of Holiday Travel

by | Holiday Travel

Holiday Travel is the movement of individuals between different, usually remote geographical areas. Travel can generally be done by automobile, bicycle, car, plane, train, bus, boat, horseback or any other mode of transportation, with or without personal luggage, and can either be one-way or round trip. This can include a vacation to a resort or another location, a corporate retreat, a school field trip, or a hunting/ fishing/ wildlife expedition. Most often, though, holiday travelers will take advantage of air travel, since flying is usually the easiest mode of transport from one point to another.

The typical year in the United States sees an influx of over a million tourists. While this is primarily due to tourist destinations such as New York, Paris, Rome, and Tokyo, which account for nearly half of the tourists, it is also comprised of individuals who are taking advantage of family holidays, military deployments, visits with friends and extended family, and even visiting relatives that have relocated to a different part of the world. In fact, families account for a larger percentage of holiday travel than any other group of people. There is always a demand for accommodation, because people will return to the same country where they have spent time over a year. It’s not uncommon to find entire families in a hotel room during a holiday, especially if the family has traveled to a popular destination such as Rome or London.

Another way in which people make use of holiday travel is to spend time on fishing and hunting trips. While most vacations aren’t exactly about getting away from it all, many people choose to go on extended fishing trips, where they go out into the wilderness and attempt to capture a variety of different fish species. There are several different types of fishing that can be taken part in on these trips, from salmon fishing in Alaska, to walleye fishing off of the shores of Quebec, Canada, to saltwater fishing off of Mexico. Those who prefer to spend their time on land may want to try horseback riding, mountain biking or camping.
